MILSIM represents a significant leap forward in constructive simulation.  MILSIM's portability allows it to operate on laptop computers and it is easy enough to use that most operators can be trained in a single one-hour session.  MILSIM achieves these two characteristics without sacrificing fidelity thus allowing constructive simulation to go places previously thought unworkable using other simulations.

MILSIM's architecture allows it to be used in a number of different environments including traditional simulation center, classroom/institutional environments and geographically dispersed training.

MILSIM can be interfaced with C4ISR systems and used as a stimulator for training purposes.  This provides the users with a contextual basis for their training and enables them to interact with the simulated units via the C4ISR software and to receive feedback (unit position updates and message traffic) from their actions.

Features & Benefits
  • Simple User Interface
MILSIM's intuitive controls and focus on "right-click" menus enable users to be comfortable with using in the software within a single training session.  By using the Windows operating system users are more at ease with the operation and "look & feel" of the program over Unix-based simulations.
  • Peer-to-Peer Architecture
As opposed to a traditional client-server architecture, MILSIM uses peer-to-peer.  This minimizes the network band-width requirements and increases the portability of the system.  The peer-to-peer engagement resolution means that there is no requirement for a “central computer” that could become overloaded.
  • Multi-Language Support
Users can switch on-the-fly between languages.   Having the software in the mother-tongue of the users greatly reduces training overhead.  Different users can operate in different languages on the same simulation.  MILSIM has been translated into English, French, Arabic and Portuguese.
  • Interface to C4ISR Systems
MILSIM contains a number of interfaces so that simulated forces can interact with headquarters staff and real forces through third-party C4ISR systems.  This feature can allow MILSIM to act as a lower controller computer to feed the headquarters staff with realistic combat information during command post exercises.
  • Logistics & Maintenance Play
MILSIM provides play for the role of logistics, medical and maintenance staffs by allowing entities to require resupply, repair or medical treatment.  The degree of logistical play is adjustable at the start of the simulation.  Additionally, the ability to deploy engineering resources can enhance or deny mobility.
  • After-Action/Post-Training Reviews
MILSIM provides playback of the simulation from any perspective and allows the creation of "combat vignettes" or short video clips of significant events.  User defined reports can be generated detailing information on vehicles damaged and destroyed, the effectiveness of weapons systems and supplies consumed (fuel, ammunition, etc).
  •  Distributed Simulation
MILSIM can conduct simulations with player stations distributed geographically using a standard internet connection.  This allows the geographically dispersed units to train together.  MILSIM is also HLA and DIS compatible allowing it to act as a bridge between virtual and constructive simulation.
