MILCOMM is a dynamic military communications planning, management and training tool designed to assist communications staff with creating, configuring, validating and managing their communications networks.  By integrating a database of communication equipment, vehicle configurations and unit structures with a communication simulation capability, a communications network can be quickly and easily created and then validated prior to implementation.  Reports on the network performance can be created using standard forms or customized by the operator.  Equipment configuration settings can be output to the hardware configuration software for loading onto the communication equipment.

• Network Planning
  MILCOMM Network Planning Tool allows the communications planners to simply and effectively create the communications and network infrastructure of the organization they support.  Communications equipment and vehicles are created within a unit organizations structure for use during the planning process.  Network connections are created by dragging and dropping and then network characteristics are determined for the network. The tool is simple to use, is visually descriptive and requires little training in order to operate it.  The outputs of the planning process are the Communications Annexes in both human readable (written) form and electronic data form.
• Dynamic Network Simulation
  The dynamic network simulation component of MILCOMM provides the user with the ability to use a variety of radio propagation models to test the validity of the Signals Plan Course of Actions (COAs).  Simulated vehicles and equipment are moved over terrain to determine issues with the proposed course of action.  MILCOMM’s simulation differs from other simulations in that calculations are performed over time based on the anticipated movements of units and formations not just a point-to-point snapshot.
• Configuration & Initialization
  MILCOMM output network and equipment configuration data in machine readable format based on the communications plan created within the software. MILCOMM ensures that the network components are initiated/configured/set-up/loaded appropriately, in accordance with the plan. Utilizing MILCOMM’s API the software can act as a network planning tool for communications hardware from different manufactures thus simplifying network integration.
• Monitoring & Control
  MILCOMM’s Monitoring and Control component allows for data collection and evaluation of the status network components in both graphical and tabular formats. The integrated mapping engine within MILCOMM allows the planned, current and future states of the network to be displayed. Adjustments can be made to network and equipment configuration and settings can be made to compensate for changing requirements or network failures or degradation.
• Reports, Orders and Instructions
  MILCOMM contains a fully featured document creation and reporting tool to enable the communications planner to create and distribute Signals Operational and Technical Planning information as well as configuration data.  Equipment configuration data from the communications plan created by MILCOMM can be used to automatically populate tables and annexes.
