C4i Consultants Inc. has an exceptional full time professional career opportunity for a Senior Development Manager based out of our Calgary Head Office.
Description
The Senior Development Manager will be responsible for managing all phases of the software development cycle: concept, technical specification, design, prototype, code development, testing, and release. It is expected that the candidate will be able to work under minimal supervision as he/she will be the liaison between the Development/Testing Team and the Management Team/Partners. Extensive experience in Project Management is a requirement. To be successful at this role, the candidate must be a self starter and be capable of managing multiple responsibilities, tasks and employees at once. Some experience in Software Testing is considered an asset. The candidate must also be capable of obtaining Secret security clearance.
Position overview and responsibilities
- Work together with other managers and team leads to plan and execute projects, ensure that teams have appropriate product and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver products effectively by establishing realistic estimates for timelines while ensuring that projects remain on target to meet deadlines.
- Responsible for the execution of development commitments ensuring that quality, feature completeness and time commitments are met
- Act as a technical mentor and work with Managing Partners to match employees to various development opportunities.
- Identifying the requirements and providing s/w specifications.
- Communicate with the Managing Partners the planning and execution to meet department goals, department productivity and quality goals ensure the applications are developed in accordance with the company's vision.
- Responsible for the recruitment and orientation of new development/engineering employees.
- Works with test lead to ensure the creation and execution of unit tests, software integration tests, and hardware integration tests; supports test with overall design verification and system testing.
- Update the Managing Partners with any plan changes.
- Review code to ensure it is documented and designed according to company and professional standards. Ensures code satisfies performance, size, and functional criteria and apply corrective actions as necessary.
- Actively participates in design, development and testing as needed
- Analyze the current process/implementations and use personal judgment and initiative to develop solutions to enhance efficiencies.
- Assess any change request and work with Managing Partners to prioritize
- Project Management experience
Required Education/Experience/Competencies
- Minimum of 8 years of management/leadership experience in a software development.
- Strong experience in supervising project and team activities.
- Agile development environment experience.
- 10+ years experience in software design and development.
- Knowledge in system level hardware, software design and writing software specifications.
- Large/enterprise web application development is experience an asset.
- Demonstrated experience with full software development cycle.
- Strong leadership, project management, time management, and problem solving skills.
- Experience solving complex and large-scale software problems with a proven track record of successfully completing commercial software releases.
- Ability to work with technical and non-technical business owners to get things done.
- Experience with MS Project or similar project planning/management tools
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Experience solving complex and large-scale software problems with a proven track record of successfully completing commercial software releases
- Exposure to military systems development/integration is an asset
- Experience with simulation is an asset
